In The Garden

"At the gate of the garden some stand and look within, but do not care to enter. Others step inside, behold its beauty, but do not penetrate far.
Still others encircle this garden inhaling the fragrance of the flowers, having enjoyed its full beauty, pass out again by the same gate. But there are always some who enter and becoming intoxicated with the splendour of what they behold, remain for life to tend the garden."

Natural Beauty Tips

In my previous blog I posted some recipes for natural beauty treatments that you can do at home. I got a lot of feedback and people asking for more of these. I want to share three that I have used myself.

Dry and damaged hair:

My hair is very thick and long and also very dry. Here is my favorite recipe:

  1. Combine coconut and olive oil in a small bowl and mix well
  2. Apply the mixture to your hair, focusing on the ends
  3. Wrap hair in a bun on top of your head, cover with a shower cap and leave on for 15-30 minutes (depending on how damaged your hair is)
  4. Rinse out in the shower
  5. Shampoo and condition as usual

Another tip is applying this masks in the shower after you shampoo. The heat of your shower will open up your hair follicles and allow the masks to penetrate deep into the hair shaft. Cover with a shower cap, and at the end of your shower, simply rinse out and finish with conditioner! Sometimes I shampoo my hair, then leave the mask over night or during the day when I plan to stay at home. And wash it 6-8 hours later.

Spirulina Yogurt Face Mask

Spirulina is a super food that packs a powerful amount of nutrition in just a few tablespoons. This blue-green algae is also rich in organic ingredients that feed your skin from the outside as well.

1. Mix half a teaspoon of Spirulina powder or two crushed tablets with cream cheese or yogurt, or your favorite mask.

2. Apply the mixture to thoroughly cleansed skin and let it soak in for quarter of an hour.

3. Then rinse with lukewarm water. The Spirulina face pack has a triple action; cleansing, relaxing and nourishing the skin.

The Spirulina face mask can be used for every skin-type, but it especially helps with greasy or problem skin.

Cellulite sound like a medical condition. But cellulite is nothing more than normal fat beneath the skin. The fat appears bumpy because it pushes against connective tissue, causing the skin above it to pucker. Cellulite isn't harmful. Many people, though, would like to get rid of it because of the way it looks. Having cellulite doesn't mean you are overweight. Even thin people can have it. If you are overweight, however, losing weight may reduce cellulite. Cellulite is more common among women than men. If other women in your family have cellulite, there's a good chance you will too.

Cellulite tends to be less noticeable on darker skin. If you have light skin and plan to be out in a bathing suit or short shorts, applying a self-tanner may make the bumps and dimples on your thighs less noticeable.

But of course my tip is to keep a healthy diet, have physical activity and drink a lot of water. In addition to that you might want to try this amazing HOME MADE body wrap that will help you a great deal. Its easy and way cheaper than what you get at a spa.

Coffee body wraps are useful for increasing blood circulation due to the caffeine content and can contribute to the reduction of cellulite. In addition, they increase body tone and firmness due to the action of the caffeine contained within the coffee grounds. Coffee body wraps can be performed at home using over-the-counter products.

1. Mix coffee grounds with olive oil

2. Pour a splash of hot water or hot coffee into the bowl and let it sit for 10-15 minutes so it can soften

3. Add some peppermint essence or a few drops of peppermint oil (if you have any, not a must)

4. Shower in hot water, then dry your skin.

5. Add the mixture as a thick layer on to your problem area.

6. Cover all of it with a plastic wrap (you can secure it with scotch tape if needed)

7. Wrap a bandage or towel around it and then lay on a heating pad or madras for 30 minutes. If you don't have that I recommend to stay in the bathroom or somewhere hot during the 30 minutes.

8. Rinse off.

Daily Wisdom

In my experience, everyone will say they want to discover the Truth, right up until they realize that the Truth will rob them of their deepest held ideas, beliefs, hopes, and dreams. The freedom of enlightenment means much more than the experience of love and peace. It means discovering a Truth that will turn your view of self and life upside-down. For one who is truly ready, this will be unimaginably liberating. But for one who is still clinging in any way, this will be extremely challenging indeed. How does one know if they are ready? One is ready when they are willing to be absolutely consumed, when they are willing to be fuel for a fire without end.

Eye of the Heart

"Everything happens in Divine timing. Timing is indeed everything once we penetrate the mysteries of the physical world. We can never know the truth about another or even ourself if we only rely on the five senses. They are attached to the ego consciousness and will always tell us and show us the version of things that our limited ego wants to see. To know the sacred realm, the realm of eternal bliss, we have to connect with our Intuition and the part of our being that is in conscious relationship with the flow of Life. Here we access the Eye of the Heart that is able to see the flow of light - the waxing and waning of the physical world. Here we hold the space of the Witness, and are not carried away by the appearances of Light and Dark on the screen of consciousness. All things change. The one who appears to be struggling will one day be on top and the one who appears to have mastered the world will one day be in need of a new sustenance. When we judge people and things we limit our intelligence and our field of Intuition diminishes. As we awaken our Intuition the highest and most compassionate discernment can guide us to a new Understanding of the World and the magical beings in it. We will know the right actions to take and be uplifted to a new octave of our human experience."

October Party

October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came-
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.

Have you ever considered growing vegetables? If you haven?t eaten a tomato or a cucumber straight from the plant then you have no idea of how wonderful they can taste. And it's so much healthier and better than the aged artificially ripened vegetables at supermarkets.

For the past 5 years I have had apple tree, cherry tree, strawberry, blueberry, raspberry and a wide range of different herbs in my garden. But this summer we decided to make a greenhouse. And it has really been a wonderful experience. Now we also have many different vegetables and it feels great to just pick the fruits and vegetables straight from the plant and tree and put it on our plates. I love it :)

Made with Love

Here is my newest design of jewelry. It is a gold LOVE bracelet made with the powerful and lovely crystal called Rose Quartz. It is the Magical stone of the Heart, a crystal of Unconditional Love. These crystals have healing properties for those who wear them. They carry a soft, feminine energy of compassion and peace, tenderness and healing, nourishment and comfort. They speak directly to the Heart Chakra, dissolving emotional wounds, fears and resentments, and circulate a Divine loving energy throughout the entire aura. Reawakening the heart to its own innate love, it provides a deep sense of personal fulfillment and contentment, allowing one the capasity to truly give and recieve love from others.

Dissolve into Love

"As you dissolve into love, your ego fades. Your not thinking about loving; you're just being love, radiating like the sun." -Ram Dass

On Friday I took the train to Moss, the boat to Horten and got picket up to go to the idyllic port city of Tnsberg. There I was modeling for a fashion report that is going to be in a magazine. It was for the summer collection and for those of you who live close, you can just imagine how cold that was. But all in all it a very magical day with rain, sun and beautiful rainbows. I got some shots with my iPhone from the road.

This was taken from the boat on my way back. A beautiful sunset.

Interesting Facts About Your Food

Here are some funny facts about the human body and vegetables that are good for us:

Everyone have heard that carrots are good for our vision. If you slice a carrot, you will see that the shape of it is exactly like the human eye (pupil). Science shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of th eyes.

Onions look like the bodys cells. Todays research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.

Kidney beans are actually proves to heal and help maintain kidney function. And guess what?? They look exactly like the human kidney :)

Now this one is really cool. The walnut; it looks just like a little brain, and we now know that walnuts help develop more than thre dozen neuro-transmitters for brain function. They also help warding off dementia.

And the list goes on and on. If you are as facinated about this as me you should google it and read more! And I want to finish off this blog post with an interesting quote by Thomas Edison:

"The doctor of the future will no longer treat the human frame with drugs, but rather will cure and prevent disease with nutrition"

Just like we did for centuries, we just forgot about the importance of it for a while :)

Love MV

In love and relationships we have much to learn from our partners. Actually anyone in our lives we have drawn to our life experience as mirrors that are supposed to help us to understand more about ourselves. Whenever we are presented with a challenge in a relationship, we are actually being presented with a great opportunity. We get a chance to look inside ourselves to see what we need to be working on, so that we may grow. A lot of times people choose to leave a relationship, any relationship, whenever they are facing one or many challenges, because it makes usfeel uncomfortable. The other person is actually getting close or confronting us with something about ourselves that is hard to accept, or simply acting in a way that makes us upset. Thats when we need to go inside ouselves and ask WHY we are feeling negative emotions towards what we are experiencing. It can be hard to accept sometimes, because we are often so stuck in our old beliefs and patterns that we cant see the changes that we need to make.

Maybe we decide to leave one relationship and move on to another and even then we experience the same challenges. Because we are not willing to face our mirrors, accept what we see and learn from it. It is all a learning experience, a process of developing integration and balance in our lives. It is usually the most emotionally charged relationships that teach us the most about ourselves. Because in many cases we attract people that hold the oposite qualities than what we can identify ourselves with. That may make us very frustrated, annoyed, judgemental and even mad. In one minute we can love a person and the next minute we can even hate them. It becomes a love/hate relationship, which I am sure many of us can relate to. But we have to understand that how we feel about someone is usually an indication of how we feel about the part of ourselves that they mirror. They are helping us see parts of ourselves that we need to accknowledge and accept.

We all have experienced judgements towards ouselves and others. But it is when we can truly accept ourselves and others that we really grow. That is when our relationship goes from struggles and challenges to a Divine Unity. A unity that will help us to continue growing. There is no goal to Love, only a journey.

Angels Eyes

Have you noticed that when you seek the best in others, it automatically brings out the best in you? Someone told me once to see everyone around me through the eyes of an angel. When I truly understood what that means it changed my life.

Under the Ruin waits a Royal Treasure

"Dam the torrent of ectasy when it runs in flood, so that it won't bring shame and ruin. But why should I fear ruin. Under the ruin waits a royal treasure. He that is drowned in God wishes to be more drowned. While his spirit is tossed up and down by the waves of the sea, he asks, "Is the bottom of the sea more delightful, or the top? Is the Beloved's arrow more fascinating, or the shield?" O heart, if you recognize any difference between joy and sorrow, these lies will tear you apart. Although your desire tastes sweet, doesn't the Beloved desire you to be desireless? The life of lovers is in death: you will not win the Beloved's heart unless you lose your own."

I just found this beautiful poem by Rumi that really touched me. He isteaching the art of dying. The Sufis say we have to move into the state of fana -to disappear. And that is when you become one with God. He is talking about surrendering, a choosen death. And your death of yourself (your ego) will be your rebith. But you have to pass through the door of Love, because the lover knows that death is not death, but the beginning of an eternal pilgrimage. It doesnt matter what we say or do, because the Truth of who we really are is there and it goes beyond the physical desires and the worldly pleasures. But we have to loose our egos, let it die, to become closer to our hearts and to our Truth. Just like the phoenix must burn to emerge, we have to die to be reborn.

My Health Insurance

Alright, I have had the flu for over a month now, and I know there is some kind of virus going around lately, but it's also because Christmas has riuned my whole diet. It's January now and I intend to go back to taking care of my body. I make a lot of soups, and sometimes everyday, since it's my favourite thing to eat. I never follow any recipe, and I feel kind of like that rat in the Disney movie Ratatouille (which is one of my favorite movies by the way :) I just go with the flow and mix whatever I feel is the right ingredient and what I'm in the mood for. There are really no rules when it comes to cooking, especially not with soup. Something I love to make is green lentil soup, and since I have had the flu for a while, I added a whole garlic, three whole onions and a whole ginger root. I always use turmeric, himalaya salt and cayenne pepper as well, which are all good options for table salt and pepper. Turmeric have amazing properties for your health because it is a natural antiseptic and antibacterial agent. It is also a liver detoxifier, its basically a natural wonder. I also love potatoes, carrots, red pepper, chilly and selleri in soups. And the most important thing for the taste for me is the herbs. I use all kinds of parsley and coriander which are my favourites and are GREAT for your health. Here are some pics from today's cooking. I also had my little niese to help me today! She loves cooking <3

Friends Forever?

People and friendships change everyday. Whats important is how you choose to adapt to that change. You can choose to accept the changes and let the friendship grow or you can choose to let it go, which is ok too sometimes. We love, learn and grow from our experiences together, and with time and the winds of change (that sometimes takes us in different directions), we learn to accept the distance, let go and move on. It doesnt mean you dont love the other person anymore or dont appreciate what they have done for you in the past. You can always love someone from a distance, think of them, and send them light. They dont necessarily have to be in your life if you feel like its not serving any of the parts anymore. We all choose different paths everyday, some friendships will endure and some will not. Sometimes we might even find our lost friends where the paths cross each other again.

This is a wise one to keep in mind when friends seem to have wandered away ♥

Energy Goes Where Attention Flows

"My energy and love will continue to be high regardless on what is happening around the world. I am like you a healing of light and love to our world - Awake of how powerful I am and us together. Remember - energy goes where attention flows. Raise your energy, know you have the power to heal anything. Fly like a bird with any situation that faces you. Energy goes where your attention flows. Now is our time to come together and focus on love for humanity. Let go of fear and trust all is well ♥"

Rise from the Storm

"The storms are passing, leaving behind so much damage but not for long. Beings of love, fear not your healing process is speeding up and all will be repaired that has been damaged. Change brings awareness to all... and change is what we are all being faced with in our new evolving Planet... but this time on a much deeper level for all. Things crash for a reason and NY and other places around the world that have been damaged will rise again. This time with a new outlook, a togetherness with humanity coming together and working to re-build as one. See the message behind it all and raise your energy to transcend the drama ♥"

Awakening to Love

Many of us are going through what we can call a "spiritual awakening", or a shift in consciousness. We desire to live and act from our inner knowing, because we believe that it holds the answers that we are seeking. We want to live a healthier, more fulfilling and conscious lifestyle, because we begin to understand the importance of nurturing that which is within. To me this awakening has been about re-discovering myself as a human being. I am slowly getting out of my head and into my heart and letting it lead me to where it is that I need to be. I am liberating myself from expectations that have suffocated the real me. I am growing and learning to live in the NOW and to enjoy the tremendous beauty that surrounds me. The journey from my mind to my heart has reminded me that I am in fact perfect. I let go of fear and judgements towards myself and others and I let love flow in. I am grateful to know that I am exactly where I am supposed to be. I understand that my life is a constant movement, a foreward motion towards continious expansion.

I want to dedicate this post to someone that is very dear to my heart. He has taught me a lot over the past two years. He has been my teacher, inspiration and most of all support through a big trasition in my life. Thank you Dont Jackson for being there and for always seeing me through the eyes of an angel.

I LoveYou

Out with the Old & in with the New

I love this time of year! Leaves changing into beautiful colors, I feel the crisp fresh air on my face as I put my scarf on and go outside to take a deep breath. As I walk down the road I feel like Im taking new steps towards change. It gives me a sense of accomplishment upon the completion of a new cycle. Just like the leaves have completed one cycle and are now falling beautifully and peacefully to the ground, ready to transform and be reborn anew, I too feel Im ready to take that step towards re-birth. Im in peace with myself and Im ready to explore new paths. I now crave newness, creativity and transformation, as I root myself with enthusiasm. I now want to clear my being on every level and leave old luggage behind, to make room for new ever-increasing levels of LOVE, joy and well-being.

I Can & I Will

Its about time that we as human beings begin to fully concentrate on loving ourselves and caring for ourselves like we do for others. Every day so many of us (especially us women) give ourselves to others like our bosses, siblings, kids, husbands or spouses etc... It seems in today's society we spend most of our energy doing things for the outer world that we tend to sometimes completely forget about our own Inner-being. Throughout the day, we all should take some much needed time to LOVE ourselves, appreciate and be kind to ourselves. When was the last time you looked in the mirror and said "thank you" or "I love you"? I know it might feel silly at first but it's so important to have that deep connection with yourself, especially if you are desiring a deep connection with someone else. Its easier to please others and do things for others than for ourselves sometimes. But you deserve that love more than anyone.Nurture yourself. Self care is very important. Set up some time to be by yourself. Do something that brings you peace, love, and joy.

A lot of times we can get overwhelmed with the challenges of life and get burned out by the to-do list that never seems to end. Sometimes the negative comments and actions from others are just too much to handle. You tell yourself that you want to think more positive and protect yourself from the negativity from others around you, but it's easier said than done. One very effective method in getting your mindset and vibration flipped around from negative to positive is to really FEEL, focus on, and EXPRESS what you are grateful for. Gratitude is the Key. Instead of focusing your attention on what you don't want, you should choose to focus on things that are going good in your life. For example: be thankful for your body and all the wonderful things its capable of. Be thankful for the bed you get to sleep in every night, the food you eat. The list can go on and on because there are so many little things in life that are going well that we completely take for granted. Make the conscious effort to THINK thoughts of gratitude, SPEAK words of appreciation, and to choose ACTIONS that express the gratitude and appreciation inside of you. Think it! Speak it! Act on it! Being happy is a choice so you must choose to be happy now in this moment! Don't put your happiness on hold for tomorrow, start today...start NOW.

Love shall always Triumph

I found this beautiful text online, and I want to share them with you:

"Shifting ones attitude from pessimistic doubt is done by cultivating a perspective of confident positivity.A couple of many examples, to illustrate the point, follow:

Moving from: The world is filled with so much suffering, our situation is hopeless. I hope, someday, it may get better. To: It is the destiny and birth-rite of humanity, in time, through growing wiser from the lessons we have learned, to fully and satisfyingly embody perfect peace, boundless joy, goodwill to one and all.

and ...

Moving from: Hatred and disrespect for each other and the planet is running rampant everywhere today. How can love stand up to such a mighty force??

To: Love shall always triumph over hatred, understanding over ignorance, for love is our deepest heart desire and the only place happiness can be found. The nature of life is to be happy. Therefore, eventually, people are bound to discover love is the only way to attain the goal we all seek.

Some may say I am a dreamer, creating myths for the purpose of making myself feel good. I tell you this, my friends. What I share is far more than a pipe-dream, a picture painted in the sky. This utopian vision is powerfully seen in my mind?s eye of understanding, learned from the Great Ones, as clearly as you see the hand in front of your face.

Question everything I say. The perspectives I describe have empowered me with a courage and enthusiasm, feeding this humble heart of compassionate service, abundantly. Try on a new face, if you have not already done so. Sincerely smile, and see if it works for you.

What have we to lose, except the weight, finally realized as the excess baggage it is, no longer needed to be carried.

Two teachings of the gently guiding, Master Jesus, come to mind ...

Be true to thy own self

and ...

If ye have but faith you shall move mountains

Hove Festival

This summer I was asked to work at the Hove festival. I said yes of course, as I couldnt turn down the opportunity to live like a hippie for a whole week :) Hove is a a music festival where the youth come to camp, go to concerts and have fun by the beach and commune with eachother and nature in idyllic surroundings on a beautiful island in the south of Norway. I worked as a venue manager at the spiritual scene at "Josteins Hage". There I was coordinating and organizing the scenes for meditation, tai chi and yoga sessions for the guests at the festival. I got to work with amazing people AND have a lot of fun :) The festival has a vision to spread enviremental awareness and everything was focused on being enviremental-friendly. Here are some pictures of my jorney.

Norwegian Nature

I recently went on a road trip to the west coast of Norway. As most of you know I live near Oslo. But a couple of weeks ago I got to see a lot of the beautiful nature in the west. I travelled through south till Stavanger, Bergen and lesund. I was modeling there and all the shots were outside in beautiful surroundings. I saw the fjords and the mountains, and even though it was freezing and I barely got any sleep it was definitely worth it. I can't tell you anything about the shoot yet but I wanted to share some pictures from the breathtaking sights that we visited.
